It was a long journey to arrived at Louisville, KY. Specially when you spent most of the time at the other side of the country. DerbyCon was not part of my schedule this year, but some of my friends convinced me to submit my talk. It really worth it.

DerbyCon is a “strange” experience in different ways if I compare it with other conferences. DerbyCon clearly has the most important advantage: it is designed, planned and executed for the community.

To understand the meaning of DerbyCon, you need to know what exactly Louisville is. Louisville is like one of the Edgar Allan Poe’s poems with amazing art and beautiful culture. It is a land of legends, history and values.

What about the community in DerbyCon. I can tell that they are social, polite, friendly and amazing professionals. DerbyCon is a perfect balance of “techy” stuff and friend-zone environments.

Oh yes, my research. Well, many people ask me why I had to spend five days in the city for a twenty-five minutes talk, but they do not know what DerbyCon is. You spend almost all the time talking to people, enjoying life and barely thinking about your research. I had the opportunity to present the first MagSpoof for Raspberry Pi at DerbyCon. I made a video in the city testing the board.

Overall, it was an amazing experience to share time with the community. I will make a new plan to be there next year. You can find the DerbyCon videos here: http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=videos/derbycon6/mainlist Thank you #DerbyCon.
